When the weight of suffering feels suffocating, sometimes even like a hard rain that won't let up, we can hold onto this truth – our suffering is never wasted. In fact, we can still find reason for great joy in the midst of our trials as we remember that God's design in our distress is to prepare us for our heavenly inheritance. Take heart, the flowers will bloom and it will all be worth it.

You rejoice in this, even though now for a short time, if necessary, you suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith — more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire — may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  1 Peter 1.6-7
